Hustle Turtle by Threads & Ink is proud to offer a unique selection of Malai knit fabrics. These fabrics feature a raised pattern on a smooth knit base, creating a visually interesting and textured look that’s perfect for a variety of clothing and homeware projects. Our Malai knits are manufactured using Pana 60”60” and come in a GSM range of 160-200. (GSM stands for Grams per Square Meter, a unit of fabric weight.)

Fiber Content

Consider the intended use of the fabric. Cotton offers breathability and comfort, while synthetic fibers may provide moisture-wicking properties for activewear. Blends combine the benefits of different fibers.

Grip

Textures with high friction offer good grip, while smooth textures offer poor grip.

Weight

Malai knits can vary in weight from lightweight jersey fabrics to heavier sweater knits. Choose a weight appropriate for your project.

Clothing

Malai fabric can be used to make a variety of garments, including dresses, shirts, pants, and skirts.

Home Textiles

Malai fabric can also be used to make home textiles, such as bed sheets, towels, and tablecloths.

Industrial applications

Malai fabric has a number of potential industrial applications, such as in wound dressings and filtration.

Activewear

Malai Lycra fabrics are a popular choice for activewear, such as yoga pants and leggings.

Loungewear

Malai Lycra fabrics are also soft and comfortable, making them ideal for loungewear, such as pajamas and sweatpants.

Comfort and Flexibility

Malai knits offer a soft, drapey feel that allows for a wide range of motion, ideal for workouts and active lifestyles.

Breathability

This allows air to circulate, helping to regulate body temperature and keep you cool during exercise.

Lightweight

Fabrics are generally lighter than woven materials, making them ideal for activewear and warm-weather clothing.
